India’s top private airport operator, Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), has entered into a new deal with The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), the nation’s leading hospitality firm, to construct eight hotel properties totaling more than 2,000 rooms in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and Guwahati.
These facilities will operate under IHCL’s Taj, Vivanta, Gateway, and Ginger brands, targeting corporate travelers, vacationers, and passengers in transit.
The arrangement specifies that Adani Airports will oversee development, while IHCL will manage operations through its diverse brand network.
This collaboration seeks to enhance hospitality services at major aviation hubs by combining lodging, food services, conference spaces, wellness amenities, and leisure options with airport-adjacent projects.
Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Airport Holdings Limited, said the partnership marks an important step towards developing integrated airport destinations that support commerce, tourism and urban growth.
The deal includes three Taj hotels, two Vivanta properties, one Gateway hotel, and two Ginger hotels, providing varied services to different traveler groups.
Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO, IHCL, said airport-centric developments are emerging as important commercial and hospitality hubs as India’s aviation market expands. He noted that the partnership would strengthen IHCL’s multi-brand presence at key airports, taking its portfolio to 25 hotels across its brands at major airports in India.
Additionally, Adani Airports has created Adani Airport City Limited to manage a 655-acre development portfolio across eight airports in seven states. In the first phase, the company plans to invest over ₹20,000 crore to construct approximately 22 million square feet of space in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Guwahati, including a Taj hotel at Terminal 2 of the airport, while Lucknow will have a Vivanta and a Ginger property.
