Luxury travel advisors Robyn and Murray Sinfield recently spent ten days on board the Seabourn Pursuit, an ultra-luxury expedition ship sailing the Kimberley region. The vessel, launched in 2023, carries just 132 ocean-facing suites with private verandas. The Sinfields described the ship as having a serene atmosphere despite operating at maximum capacity, noting they never felt overcrowded.
A partnership with traditional custodians
The voyage partnered with the Wunambal Gaambera people, the traditional owners of sea country Ngula Jar Island and freshwater country Ngauwudu. This relationship symbolizes stewardship and responsibility toward the environment and sustainable tourism in a globally iconic destination. Guests encountered Indigenous artwork throughout the journey and participated in cultural events and fireside chats.
For travelers planning such an expedition, the physical demands require careful preparation. A cruise of this nature involves limited walking and mostly Zodiac-based shore excursions, yet guests still burn significant energy. This dynamic means the ship’s fitness facilities and walking tracks see regular use. The physical fatigue from the expedition activities contrasts sharply with the ship’s low-key entertainment schedule, which features live music and classic games like Team Trivia rather than large-scale productions.

Guests disembark at Hidden Island in Yampi Sound for Zodiac tours. The coastal scenery features clear waters framed by rugged sandstone formations shaped over millions of years. Guests observed tidal marks reaching up to 11 metres in fall. The area is home to ospreys and their young, setting the scene for the journey’s exploration of Dreamtime stories.

Robyn and Murray Sinfield occupied Suite 821, a penthouse on Deck 8 forward. The suite contained a separate dining and sitting area. A walk-in wardrobe led to the bathroom. This bathroom featured double vanities, a shower, and a bathtub. It also had a separate toilet. Upon arrival, guests found Molten Brown toiletries and a bottle of 1891 Montaudon champagne. The cabin stocked a minibar with drinks chosen by the occupants.

The ship offered multiple dining venues. The Colonnade on Deck 5 provided buffet-style meals. The Restaurant served guests on Deck 4. The Club offered casual sushi options. Guests could order 24-hour room service. The buffet area on Deck 5 also contained a small meeting room. On the rear of this deck sat the infinity pool and bar. This pool area served breakfast and themed lunches and dinners.

Deck 6 features the Bow Lounge forward. This location offers a quiet spot for guests to relax. The bow also has an observation deck. This area provides the last chance to view the scenery before the anchor lifts. The ship houses the Zodiacs on Deck 9. These vessels are stored under a canopy. The Constellation Lounge and SkyBar are also located on this deck.
Seabourn Square is a trademark space on board. It includes a barista, a reception desk, and a future cruise consultant. It also holds a collection of books. Connectivity is reliable throughout the voyage. The ship uses Starlink technology. The Seabourn app, called “The Source,” helps guests track their itinerary. It also provides the daily news and a dining summary. The mudroom holds a stainless steel shelf for every cabin. This shelf is convenient for wet landing gear. The ship carries 24 Zodiacs.
