Beyond Borders summit and NTIA awards run Oct 9-10 at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and Crown Melbourne’s Palladium.

The Beyond Borders summit and National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) will gather attendees in Melbourne next month, delivering a mix of professional networking, competitive prizes, and a fully booked awards gala. The summit kicks off on Friday, October 9 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, followed by the NTIA gala on Saturday, October 10 at Crown Melbourne’s Palladium.

A highlight of the summit will be a travel knowledge competition, where one participant stands to win two Premium Economy flights on China Southern Airlines to any destination in their network. The competition’s winner will be revealed at the event’s close. Sabre will also offer a headshot studio for delegates seeking updated professional photographs.

The NTIA gala will pay tribute to Melbourne’s musical heritage through carefully curated performances. Helloworld Travel, serving as the event’s entertainment sponsor, will open proceedings with a medley of hits by Kylie Minogue, Tina Arena, Vanessa Amorosi, and Olivia Newton-John, all artists with deep connections to the city. The intermission will feature orchestral and electronic compositions by Hans Zimmer, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Delerium, blending different musical styles to contrast the evening’s acts.

Dean Long, CEO of the Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA), said the city had given organizers plenty to work with. “Melbourne is a city that knows how to put on a show, and Helloworld have helped us create a night that lives up to the city’s reputation.” Cinzia Burnes, Helloworld’s Chief Operating Officer, added that the sold-out Palladium venue and locally inspired program would ensure the awards became a fitting tribute to the industry’s accomplishments.

The Beyond Borders summit will bring together senior figures from the travel sector, with major sponsors including American Express, Helloworld Travel, and Allianz Partners. This edition features more partner organizations than ever, expanding opportunities for attendees to connect and collaborate. “This year we have more partners than ever before, giving delegates even more opportunities to engage with organisations from right across our diverse industry,” said ATIA National Manager Corporate Partnerships Emmalita Malmberg.

Attendees will begin their day with coffee from Envoyage’s mobile cart, available from 8 a.m.. Morning tea will be sponsored by Mozio, lunch provided by Brand USA, and afternoon tea with live entertainment from Back-Roads Touring. Additional refreshments will include bubble tea from Amazing Thailand and gelato from TravelPay, though delegates may wish to moderate their consumption.

Networking spaces such as the Maytes Networking Lounge and Virgin Australia’s lounge will offer quieter areas for discussions, while the Intrepid Foundation will invite attendees to support one of three charity initiatives. Exhibitors including Sabre, Amadeus, and Mint Payments will also have booths showcasing industry updates and engagement opportunities.

A Finalist Celebration will take place from 5:30 p.m. at Aerial Melbourne, before the gala begins. Viking will return as the presenting partner for the awards ceremony, which will recognize 39 categories following a record number of nominations and over 2,100 votes.
